Not All Dermal Fillers Are The Same: A Guide To Dermal Fillers
11 March 2016
Dermal fillers are experiencing a surge in popularity. With celebrities openly admitting to turning to fillers to restore volume, there has been a sudden increase in demand for the revolutionary injectable. But if you’re thinking of having dermal filler treatment it’s important you do your research – as not all dermal fillers are the same.
When first exploring aesthetic treatments, especially injectables, it can be a slightly overwhelming experience. In the modern day, where aesthetic treatments are quickly becoming the norm, there can be so much choice. That makes choosing a reputable, experienced practitioner all the more important. An experienced practitioner will have tried and tested a number of different brands and dermal filler types, and will be able to explain which one is most suitable for you.
At Skin Medical we only use products we believe in. All of our dermal fillers are part of the Juvéderm range. Whilst there are hundreds of different dermal fillers brands and ranges available, Juvéderm is one of just five brands which has received FDA approval – which means that it has been thoroughly tested and is safe and effective. We offer the full Juvéderm range, including the revolutionary new Vycross collection.
If you’re considering dermal fillers but are worried they might be painful, you’ll be pleased to know that one of the unique attributes of Juvéderm dermal fillers is that they contain lidocaine – a numbing agent that makes the injections more comfortable. Studies have shown Juvéderm lip fillers to be less painful than Restylane, another popular dermal filler brand. The same study also found that the Juvéderm filler used (Volbella, part of the new Vycross collection) lasted longer than the Restylane fillers and had higher patient satisfaction rates.
Just like our patients, our medical practitioners also prefer using Juvéderm to other types of dermal fillers. Through experience our practitioners know exactly what results are likely, and which type of filler is most suitable to deliver the desired result. Often less product is required than with other fillers, and the Vycross range is a far more flexible collection of dermal fillers – leading to a more natural appearance.
But it’s not just the type of dermal filler you should research – you should always carry out research into the practitioner too. Injection technique matters as much as the dermal filler and therefore an experienced practitioner is key to achieving a good result. All of our practitioners are medical prescribers, with a number of years of experience. They also regularly attend further training courses and have attended Allergan Masterclasses – meaning they’re up to date on all the latest techniques!
